"We came as visiting students to Cambridge. From our point of view voluntary work is the easiest way to get to know people and to experience Cambridge. So two resumes and a coffee with Sacha DeVelle later we became members of the charity. That does not mean that everyone can join 'Cambridge to Africa' by just snapping one’s fingers. You need to fit into the team and come along with the skills required. We seemed to fit, because our marketing and organisation skills were exactly what Sacha was looking for. And everyone in the team gave us a warm welcome. Our tasks were primarily creating and hanging posters, discussing presentations, planning and executing events as well as redesigning the charity’s website. Whereas some tasks were simple others required our full concentration and of course creativity. You might ask yourself: How can working hard be so pleasant? Volunteering for Cambridge to Africa is not work at all, it is laughing, talking and being creative. We do not say that it is not challenging and difficult, it is! But the climate is pleasant and warm. The fact of helping pupils in Uganda makes volunteering even more fulfilling."

"I joined Cambridge to Africa in April 2008 as a Volunteer. Working for Cambridge to Africa has given me a very good experience that will be part of me for the rest of my life! I stayed longer than planned because when I worked with Dr Sacha DeVelle I learnt many things. The most important thing I have learnt from Dr Sacha is that charity work involves total commitment and love for the work involved. It requires one to use the head, hands and heart and when you work with Cambridge to Africa you will use all three!"

    (India)

"Cambridge to Africa was by far one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. I joined C2A not knowing too much about the organization, city or people but I left having learnt new ways and making some new great friends - some even lifelong I would say. Driven by the inspirational who work there, it allows every individual's talent to be used for a just cause. Having experience in media management, I offered my skills and expertise for creating a media plan for the group. Overall it was a very rewarding experience mentally and emotionally."
