About the dance teacher:

Sacha has a varied dance background having started classical ballet at the age of 4 in Perth, Australia. She then went on to study Contemporary dance and Jazz Ballet for 6 years under the tutelage of Beverley Nevin (Brisbane, Australia).

In 1996 (while residing in Uruguay, South America) she began Afro-Brazilian, Candombe and Salsa classes with the Brazilian choreographer Jorge Heller, and went on to perform with the group in Montevideo, Atlántida and Punta del Este. She then continued training and performing with the Cuban choreographer Maygualida Rodriguez, now with Australia's hottest Latin band Chukale. Sacha loves combining dance steps to latin rhythms, and has been conducting the Latin Fusion Dance Classes for adults over the last 2 years. She says, "Its more fun than the gym and gives you a great workout!"

FAQs

What should the kids wear?
Comfortable clothes similar to gym wear are recommended and either dance shoes, socks or barefeet.

What is the age group?
Children in the age group of 6 years to 13 years.

What does the class entail?
Each class involves a warm up and warm down component plus a breakdown of steps across the room. We work on a choreography throughout the 4 weeks with a focus on timing, rhythm, technique and improvisation. The steps include basic rumba and salsa, jazz ballet, afro-cuban, contemporary cha cha cha and funk. The most important thing to remember is that these classes are great fun and combine an educational component to the dance choreography.

Do you offer multiple classes at a discounted rate?
Yes, the rate is already discounted. Please note that the proceeds go towards our African school projects at home and abroad, after studio hire.

What is the minimum number of children to hold the class?
There should be minimum of 15 children to carry on the classes.

Should the children carry anything?
It will be good if the children carried water bottles.

Who can attend the final presentation with costumes?
Family and friends. Parents can invite relatives or friends to see the show.

How will the costumes be arranged?
The costumes are very easy to organise and parents will arrange them.
